USA Skimo aims for sustainable success (NBC Olympics)
Elite Athletes from 22 Countries Are Ready to Race the Salt Lake City Skimo World Cup, December 6-7, 2025 Salt Lake City, Utah — November 25, 2025 — Temperatures are dropping across northern Utah and snow is in the forecast, as race week approaches for the inaugural Salt Lake City Skimo World Cup at Solitude Mountain Resort. While an unusually warm and dry November has kept athletes, coaches, race organizers, and volunteers on edge, Solitude remains 100% committed to hosting a fantastic event just 10 days from now.
Teams from Norway, Sweden, and Japan arrived early to train in the Wasatch Mountains, and more than 100 international competitors will be in the area by Thanksgiving weekend. For some countries, this event marks the last chance to grab a spot in the Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games coming up in February 2026. Don’t miss the action as top teams from the United States and Canada go head-to-head. Utah’s enthusiastic ski mountaineering community is rallying to help put on this spectacular race experience that will kick off the 2025/26 International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) world cup tour. Spectators are encouraged, and there is no cost to attend.
