Silverfork Skimo Foundation: Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
Sarah Cookler founded Silverfork Skimo in 2015 to introduce local youth to ski mountaineering. Now a leading national program, the Silverfork Skimo Foundation trains athletes of all levels for national and international competition. Its mission is to develop young talent and promote safe mountain recreation. As a partner of the ISMF, Silverfork will serve as the local organizing committee for the Salt Lake City Skimo World Cup. International Ski Mountaineering Federation
Founded in 2007, the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) is the global governing body for competitive ski mountaineering. Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2016, the ISMF’s mission is to promote, regulate, and develop the sport of ski mountaineering worldwide. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, the ISMF represents 55 national member federations spanning the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The ISMF organizes major international competitions including Senior and Youth World Cups, World Championships, and Masters events. Ski mountaineering made its Olympic debut as a medal sport at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, and it will officially join the Olympic Winter Games program in 2026 in Milano-Cortina.
